New CLD Positive Behaviors Website
Access videos to learn more about the functional behavioral assessment (FBA) and behavior intervention plan (BIP) process.
The Center for Leadership in Disability (CLD) has launched a new website, www.positivebehaviorvideos.org. The website includes videos that describe the positive behavior supports process, a positive behavior supports planning tool, and interventions that can be used by teachers, child care providers, and parents. The Positive Behavior Videos present information about the functional behavioral assessment (FBA) and behavior intervention plan (BIP) process. The FBA/BIP process is an evidence-based approach to increasing positive behavior that can be highly technical and generally requires considerable university training and field-based experience to master. As a result, there are a limited number of people with the expertise to assist teachers, child care providers, and parents in planning.
Through www.positivebehaviorvideos.org, visitors can complete the Brief Behavior Questionnaire and Intervention Plan (BBQuIP), which simplifies the positive behaviors supports process and makes it easy for everyone to use. The BBQuIP includes a series of questions to assist teachers, child care providers, and parents in determining what a child is trying to communicate through his or her behavior. The BBQuIP focuses on the child’s strengths and provides a framework for identifying new skills to teach the child. After completing the BBQuIP, visitors are provided with a comprehensive behavior intervention plan specific to the needs of their student or child. Through the use of a username and password, visitors may return to the site as frequently as desired to access previously completed BBQuIPs. This website is free and available for all to use.
